Lupin Receives USFDA Approval for a Generic Antiviral Drug

On Friday, the pharmaceutical company Lupin announced that the US health agency had given the go-ahead for the marketing of a generic antiviral drug. Tenofovir alafenamide tablets (25 mg) have been given the green light by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), according to a statement from the Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company.

 

The statement also revealed that Vemlidy tablets (25 mg), produced by Gilead Sciences Inc., are generic versions of the medication produced by the company. The drugs will be mass-produced at its facility in Nagpur.

 

Tenofovir alafenamide tablets (25 mg) had yearly sales of about USD 531 million in the US market, according to the IQVIA MAT December 2022 statistics. As of Friday, Lupin shares on the BSE finished with a 0.71% loss at Rs 647.85 per share.
